COVID-19: Lagos trains 480 technical college teachers, instructors

The Lagos State Government has commenced the training of 480 teachers and instructors in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), saying teachers must learn how to impact on their students electronically. Executive Secretary, Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board, LASTVEB, Mrs Ronke Azeez, said COVID-19 had taught the state government how best to prepare for a new normal in the 21 century.

She explained that the training is done in batches of 150. Azeez said the state had realized that if it really wants its students to be competitive in the world, it must quickly embrace technology in teaching and learning. She said: “You all know that in today’s world, if you are not able to move with the times, it means that you are retrogressing and just getting stuck and not moving forward. “Our teachers must move forward. We must move away from the traditional chalk and board.”
