COVID-19: PDP demands transparency in N1.3trn intervention fund

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for transparency in the handling of the N1. 3 trillion set aside by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the coronavirus on the nation’s economy.

The party also said that the Federal Government should come clean on the source of the fund, the specific projects where the fund would apply, the level of involvement of other tiers of government and private stakeholders, as well as the mode of disbursements and monitoring.

The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefile, last week, announced N1.1 trillion intervention fund to cushion the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, donated N200 million to government to help it fight the scourge.
