C’River Basin Development Authority MD suspended

The Managing Director of the Cross River Basin Development Authority (CRIBAS), Mr. Bassey Nkposong, has been suspended following allegations of insubordination and gross misconduct in the running of the agency. The suspension followed a query issued to the suspended chief executive by the board of the organisation. Chairman of the board of the Authority, Eseme Eyiboh, who slammed the suspension on Nkposong directed him to hand over to the next most senior officer in the organisation.

He said the suspension became necessary to allow unfettered investigation into the allegations levelled against him. Nkposong and the board have been at loggerheads over his apparent refusal to respond to the query earlier issued to him. In a letter addressed to the Minister of Resources, Mr. Suleiman Adamu, the board alleged that the Managing Director had been running the River Basin like a personal family business, without recourse to civil service rules, nor the Act that sets up the Authority.
