C’River: House confirms privatisation council nominees

The Cross River State House of Assembly yesterday confirmed the names of four nominees forwarded to it by Governor Ben Ayade for appointment as members of the State Privatisation Council.

The confirmation of the nominees followed the consideration of the report of the House Committee on Judiciary, Public Service Matters, Public Petitions and Conflict Resolution.

The Committee report was presented by the Chairman, Hon. Efa Esua, representing Calabar Municipality.

Esua said the nominees, having been screened and met all the constitutional requirements for appointment into the State Privatisation Council, should be confirmed accordingly.

Other members of the House, in their separate remarks, urged the nominees to ensure that they put in their best while carrying out their assigned responsibilities.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Eteng Williams, also urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by the governor, adding that the House would not hesitate to withdraw the confirmation if found wanting in the course of performing their duties.

Those, whose nominations were confirmed, are Monday Odo, as Chairman; as well as Johnson Eyibio, Butum Ubi Ofum and Canice Atsu, as members.
The House had on May 20 received a correspondence from the governor, requesting the confirmation of the nominees.
