Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tincan Island Command, has cancelled alert coming from Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU).
The command in a statement, said that any consignment duly released from Tincan port would no longer be subjected to alert and cross examination at the gate.
Its Public Relations Officer, Uche Ejesieme, explained in Lagos that the move was in line with the presidential order on ease of doing business at the port.
The service said that any consignment released by deputy comptroller must not be stopped by officers at the gate for examination.
The Chairman, International Freight Forwarders Association (IFFA), Tincan Island Port chapter, Akintoye Ojo, also said that the issue had been resolved at a meeting with the customs at the port.
Already, he explained that a letter dated August 15 and signed by an assistant comptroller had been issued to that effect.
