Customs seeks strict compliance on trade guidelines

Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone C, Owerri, has called on its officers and men to ensure strict compliance with the import and export guidelines. The new Area Controller of the zone, Mr Ali Ibrahim, who just assumed duty as new comptroller also warned smugglers that with FOU’s planned water-tight security, NCS would made the zone uncomfortable for their illicit activities. Speaking while addressing his principal officers in Owerri, Ibrahim urged them to maintain the status quo by making sure they record monumental seizures and raise maximum Debit Note (DN).

In a statement by the zone’s Public Relations Officer, Jerry Attah, the controller thanked the Customs Comptroller General, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), for the opportunity to serve and pledged his unwavering commitment to the fight against smuggling. Also, Ibrahim urged the officers to fully cooperate with him for best results, while assuring them of his commitment to their welfare. He also charged journalists on positivity and objectivity, pledging his readiness to synergize with them for the overall good of the FOU in particular and NCS/Nigeria in general.

He said: “I also thank the comptroller general and his management team for the opportunity to serve and I pledge my commitment to service in line with my constitutional mandate.” Speaking, Mr Joseph Adelaja, an assistant comptroller of customs in charge of Aba/ Eleme patrol base, prayed God’s blessings on the new comptroller, while wishing him a successful time in the zone.
