Doctor hypnotises, rapes, dupes lady of N800,000

A 30-year-old native doctor, Lucky Okon, was yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly defrauding a lady of N800,000.
Okon was also said to have hypnotised the 25-year-old lady and raped her for several days.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty, was arraigned on a two-count charge of fraud and rape.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Godwin Awazie, said Okon committed the offences on March 14 at Abesan Housing Estate, Ipaja.
Awazie said that the offences were contrary to sections 260 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).
He said: “The accused raped his 25-year-old victim (name withheld) and defrauded her of N800,000.
“The accused accosted the victim on her way from work and hypnotised her with a substance suspected to be charm. He further asked her to give him all the money she had, which she did, under the influence of the charm.
“Okon further took her to his house where he raped her countlessly for days.
“It was when the victim regained consciousness that she reported the case to the police, and the accused was arrested.”
The magistrate, J. A. Adigun, adjourned the case till June 29 for mention.
