…don’t release him

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has warned President Muhammadu Buhari, against making the mistake of releasing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnandi Kanu, without allowing him to pay for his “atrocities”, saying: “Do that and we will hold you responsible for the blood of our people”.

The Coalition, reminded Buhari that from 2017 to 2020 at the peak of IPOB’s dangerous campaigns Kanu had instigated the killings of more than 1,230 Northerners living in parts of Nigeria, while several millions worth of businesses, properties valuable assets belonging to Northerners were destroyed.

The Coalition in a crowded press conference in Kano on Monday, further warned that: “Any attempt by President Buhari to accede to the demands to release, without prosecuting and punishing Kanu will inadvertently reduce Nigeria to a completely lawless state.

The Leaders of the Coalition, Nastura Ashraf and AbdulAziz Suleiman, alleged that Buhari has shown to the North that their blood does not matter any longer and that the votes of South and their families are his priorities.

“We Northern Nigeria will no longer remain idle when our people are deliberately targeted and massacred while the perpetrators are shielded by the criminal tribal bigots who pose as leaders,” they said.

They said Kanu and his group have killed over 400 security personnel from 2020 to date.
