Edo PDP crisis worsens as group loyal to Orbih alleges Obaseki’s appointments not harmonised

Edo North Senatorial zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed claim by the Edo state government that the list of approved appointments of Senior Special Assistants and Senior Assistants was occasioned by harmonization of party executives. In a statement, the party Vice Chairman, Edo North, Segun Saiki, said 95% of those appointed were former APC members who joined the party with the governor.

He said the state government’s claims attributed to the Secretary to the state Government, Osarodion Ogie that the appointment flowed from purported harmonisation was misleading and was a figment of imagination and an officially sponsored falsehood.

“It’s with unsettling trepidation but amusement that we read the Edo State Government publication signed by the Secretary to the Government, Bar. Osarodion Ogie, purportedly and erroneously claiming the list of approved belated appointments of Senior Special Assistants and Senior Assistants was occasioned by the imaginary harmonization of Party, PDP Executives.

“To put it clearly, the publication credited to the Secretary to the State Government dated 2nd December 2021 reads, “Following the harmonization of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the leaders of the party across Edo State, Governor Obaseki has approved appointments of 38 Senior Special Assistants and 96 Special Assistants…” “For the records, we have observed that 95% of those appointed were former APC members who joined PDP with the Governor,” the statement read.
