Entries for Wole Soyinka Essay competition 2020 ends June 26

Entries for the Wole Soyinka Essay competition 2020 will end on Friday June 26th. There are two age categories of the essay competition. The junior category is for agee 12-16 (350-400 words), while the senior category is age 17-22 (800-1000 words). According to the organisers, entries for the competition are welcome in five languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese and French.

“There will be one winner and one runner up in each age category from each language zone. There will be an overall winner in the Junior category. There will be an overall winner in the senior category. Zonal winner for the junior category will receive a cash prize of $300, while the runner up junior category will get $200.

Overall winner Jnr category will get additional $300 Zonal winner senior category will receive $500, while the runner up senior category receives $300. Overall winner senior category will receive addition $500. Winner in the Junior category (12-16) will receive $300, while runner-up gets $200. Also, the winner in the senior category will receive $500, while the runner up gets $300. Overall winner in the Junior category gets an additional $300, while the overall winner in the senior category gets an additional $500 The essay competition is part of activities for this year’s Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange, (WSICE), programme which usually coincides with the celebration of the birthday anniversary of Prof. Wole Soyinka.

Every year, for three days, the events of the WSICE are held across Nigeria and other parts of the world with a live essay competition that draws participation from students of secondary schools and tertiary institutions; a cultural advocacy session; lectures, and symposium on humanity as well as poetry and theatrical performances. Organised by the Zmirage Multimedia Company, this year’s edition will run for three days — July 12 – 14.
