NGX wins legal awards

Nigerian equities market, yesterday, sustained its positive outlook as the overall performance measures, NGX ASI and market capitalisation, rose further by .11 per cent. Market watchers attributed the development to sustained confidence as bargain hunters leverage undervalued stocks. Consequently, the All-Share Index rose by 483.68 basis points or 1.11 per cent to close at 43,730.55 index points as against 43,246.87 recorded the previous day while market capitalisation of equities appreciated by N252 billion or 1.11 per cent to close higher at N22.821 trillion from N22.569 trillion as market sentiment remained on the green territory.

A turnover of 280.71 million shares in 4,342 deals was recorded in the day’s trading. Meanwhile, the legal services department of Nigerian Exchange Limited won the Capital Market and Investment In–House Legal Team of the Year Award at the ESQ Nigerian Legal Awards 2021. The General Counsel/ Head, Legal Services Department, Mrs. Irene Robinson-Ayanwale, also won the General Counsel of the Year at the awards event held on Sunday 7 November 2021. The ESQ Nigerian Legal Awards is a prestigious platform which projects the achievements of legal practitioners in the legal and business community.

The awards aims to celebrate and recognize the role and importance of Lawyers, Legal Departments in companies, and legal professionals to businesses across Africa, and has become a highly coveted recognition by many companies and Law Firms in Nigeria. In the past, the Legal Services Department and individuals within the team have been recipients of various awards.

In the last four editions of the ESQ Nigerian Legal Awards, the Legal Services Department has won the award for the Capital Markets and Investment In–House Legal Team, while individuals such as Ms. Tinuade Awe (2017, General Counsel of the year), Mrs. Irene Robinson- Ayanwale (2016 Rising Star/40 under 40 award) have received individual awards at the ESQ Nigerian Legal Awards.
