Eze Henry Anoruo Madumere, the traditional ruler of Ezi Mbieri autonomous community and father of former Deputy Governor of Imo state, Prince Eze Madumere, has been kidnapped.
The monarch was kidnapped on Friday on his way to a burial at Ikeduru Local Government Area, a neighbouring council area.
Sources close to the family have confirmed the kidnap of the monarch and expressed worry over the well-being of the octogenarian.
They further gave hint that the abductors have made contact with the family.
The police authorities in the state also confirmed the kidnap.
In a terse reaction, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Mike Abattam said: “It’s confirmed. And efforts are on to rescue him unhurt please”.
Our correspondent gathered that the monarch was kidnapped at Iho community in Ikeduru council area of Imo state.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere in the Ezi Mbieri autonomous community in Mbaitoli council area of Imo state has been tense following the kidnap of their aged traditional ruler, Eze Henry Madumere.
