FG: Proportion of fully vaccinated Nigerians still very low

The Federal Government has raised concerns over the low proportion of fully vaccinated Nigerians, despite expanding vaccination coverage beyond health facilities.

Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, who raised the concerns at the launch of SCALE 2.0 strategy yesterday in Abuja, noted that the SCALES strategy, an acronym for Service Delivery, Communication, Accountability, Logistics, Electronic reporting, and Supportive supervision for the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination, has proven to be quite effective in ramping up COVID-19 vaccination coverage.

Recall that the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), had introduced what it calls SCALES strategy in November 2021, to rapidly ramp up COVID-19 vaccine coverage by expanding access to COVID-19 vaccines outside the health facility.

Ehanire, who partly linked the low proportion of fully vaccinated Nigerians to the administration of two-dose vaccines, also disclosed the formal roll out of the Johnson and Johnson single dose vaccine while introducing the COVID-19 vaccination site finder.
