The Director at the Federal Ministry of Education and Principal, Federal Science and Technology College, Yaba, Lagos, Reverend Christian Ugorji, has advised the staff and students of the school to remain dedicated to the ideal and core values of the institution, saying their rewards would not only be in heaven but also on earth.
He spoke last week when a coalition of media organisations from Ghana under the platform of African Media Executives, honoured him with an award of recognition. According to the principal, having traversed both the administrative and political terrains in the country, he was sure that his experiences on the field have helped in great measure in his contributions to nation development and survival of humanity.
He said as a former chairman of a local government in Imo State and an adviser to a minister, and having being on the governing council of many universities representing the education ministry, he had always worked tirelessly to ensure prompt and quality service delivery. He said; “But as I was working, I never knew anyone was looking at me.
But today I am fulfilled that the efforts are not in vain. I only encourage you all to give your best in whatever that you do because the future of these innocent children in our care must be protected. “And as I am exiting the system, my belief is that whoever is coming to take over from me would surpass my achievements here.”
In his presentation on behalf of the Ghanaian media organisation, Mr. Kenneth Okafor, said the choice of the Ugorji for the award was not accidental but a product of intensive debate among the group’s board members. He said some of the qualities noticed in the recipient include the brilliant performance of his students under his watch, even as a student of the school was one of the five recently ranked the best in the just concluded qualifying examination for the Cowbellpedia National Mathematics competition.
