Herdsmen kill 5 in Benue community

…as LG chair donates 10 motorcycles to military

Suspended Fulani militants on Thursday evening made an incursion into the Tse-Udeghe in Mbapa council ward of Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State leaving at least five people dead. Saturday Telegraph gathered that the invaders stormed the community at about 7pm and blocked the busy Naka-Makurdi Highway before carrying out the operation. It was learnt that the militia, who were in large numbers also fired shots on one of the passing vehicles, killing one occupant at Ahumen area along the road.

A staff of the local government who spoke with journalists on condition of anonymity disclosed that those killed in the attack included one Iorwundu Ihyo and his son Shimayohol Iorwundu, and one Chiahemba Orkenevihi Nyinongu Orkenevihi, bringing the total casualties in the attack to five. A source from the local government, Francis Terver, hinted that Mbapa council ward has been taken over by the herdsmen. When contacted, the Chairman of Gwer West Local Government Area, Mrs. Grace Igbabon, confirmed the incident.
