Hoodlums invade Ondo lawmaker’s house, cart away valuables

Suspected hoodlums at the weekend invaded the residence of a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon Sunday Olajide and carted away valuable items. Olajide, who represents Akure South constituency two in the Assembly however, escaped being attacked as he was not at home when the suspected hoodlums attacked the house in the early hours of Saturday.

 

A source at the vicinity told New Telegraph that the hoodlums made away with valuable items including laptop, wristwatches, television sets, shoes, clothes, and unspecified amount of money.

 

The suspected hoodlums gained entrance into the building located in the highbrow Alagbaka area of the state capital by breaking the walls of the building. The suspected hoodlums gained entrance into the building located in the highbrow Alagbaka area of the state capital by breaking the walls of the building. After gaining access to the building, they broke all  the doors in the apartment and ransacked the entire rooms in the building.

 

The source said he could not determine if it was an assassination attempt on Olajide, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation. Olajide is one of the persons jostling for the vacant seat of Akure South and North federal constituency.

He said the lawmaker would have been attacked if the hoodlums had met him at home, adding that some lawmakers’ houses had been attacked in the past.

 

He called on the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies including the South West Security Network, code named Amotekun to beef up security around Alagbaka area and other parts of the state capital.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Funmi Odunlami, said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) confirmed the invasion of the residence of the lawmaker.
