Ibadan NBA Law Week: Makinde hosts Akeredolu, Abiodun, Jega, Akpata, ors to find solutions to Nigeria’s challenges

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State will on Tuesday play host to many eminent personalities in the country in an effort to find solutions to the myriad of problems plaguing the socio-economic wellbeing of the country, particularly insecurity.

Among them are his counterparts from Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, who will be represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele, the immediate past INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Ondo, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN); President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Olumide Akpata, as well as, a horde of leading lights in the legal profession.

The event is the 2021 NBA Week of the Ibadan branch of the association billed to hold at the Afe Babalola Bar Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan. As the main guest of honour at the programme, Makinde will join the other personalities to celebrate the Week with the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Munta Abimbola and the NBA Ibadan Chairman (Mr Olayinka Esan), at the programme put together by the Law Week Committee led by Niyi Uthman.

Worried by the alarming trend of insecurity in the country, the branch executives have chosen Jega to speak on the theme: “Unity in diversity and sustainable security in Nigeria and the role of the law”. The lecture scheduled to have Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as Chairman, will also have the Oyo State Attorney General and Justice Commissioner, Prof Oyelowo Oyewo, and a host of others, in attendance.

According to the Publicity Secretary of the Ibadan NBA, Mahmudat Yussuf, the three-day programme will explore several socio-political, economic, health and sporting sectors with a view to finding solutions to the myriad of problems and challenges plaguing the nation.

Among those to chart the course of freeing the nation from the imbroglio it is entangled are: a former NBA presidential candidate Joe-Kyari Gadzama (SAN), Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), Hon Attorney General of Lagos State; and Prof Toyin Akintola (Dean, Faculty of Law, University of lbadan).

Others include: Chief Akinlolu Olujinmi (SAN), Prof. Oluyemisi Bamgbose (DVC) Research, Innovation & Strategic Partnerships (CRISP), Chief Kunle Kalejaye (SAN), as well as, Mr Dimeji Lawal (a former international footballer) who will be the guest of honour at the 3rd Place and Final Matches of the Aare Afe Babalola Football Competition.

Several Justices of the High Court of Justice from across the country will also grace the programmes. Among them is the President Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Masud Akintunde Abass.
