As part of its humanitarian service to it’s  communities, Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club International has donated a 10-unit toilet facility with a water gantry system to Agidingbi Primary School Ikeja. The club said the facility will serve pupils and teachers of the school.
Speaking at the commissioning and presentation of the facility on Thursday, June 17, President Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club, Adebimpe Balogun said she is fulfilled to accomplish the project.
“There is something about Lions Club, we always see a need in our communities and once we see a need it is very important we meet that need because where there is a lion there is always a need and where there is a need there is always a solution. So we are solution providers.
“The major challenge we face on this project was the fact that there is inflation in Nigeria. Initially, we budgeted about N1.8 million for the project and even didn’t even know that it is going to be as big as this. We just wanted to construct a small six-unit toilet but then, what is worth doing is worth doing very well. Because of the high inflation rate, the price of materials doubled and at some point, we have to continue raising funds,” she said.
On his part, District Governor of Lions Club International, Ademola Adesoye, who commissioned the project, said Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club is one of the best clubs in the district.
He said the club is passionately serving humanity. “Apart from the building of the 10-unit toilet facility they have also done so many other activities within the year. Apart from that, this club sponsored two new clubs in this Lion year. They also added 15 members to their membership,” he said.
While the headteacher of Agidingbi Primary School Ikeja, Ehirim Nnedimma thanked the club for remembering the school and the pupil. She said that she never believed that the club was serious in carrying out the project until they started working.
