Insecurity: Bandits abducts five persons, demands ransom in Sokoto

Suspected bandits have allegedly abducted five persons in Gatawa District of Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

 

This comes after some bandits collected over N11million as ransom for the 20 people earlier kidnapped in the state. It was also gathered that the bandits are demanding N500, 000 ransom for the five kidnap persons.

 

The bandits were said to have stormed the Gatawa community and began to shoot sporadically into the air to scare the residents of the community and later started taking people. It was further gathered that the bandits later released the kidnapped women and went away with the men.

 

The Gatawa community was among the areas in Sabon Birni local government experiencing the worst attack by the insurgents in Sokoto State. All efforts to get the reaction of the state Police Command failed as its spokesman could not be reached as at the time of filling in this report.
