Institute for Tourism Professionals Nigeria receives SON’s certification

The Institute for Tourism Professional of Nigeria (ITPN) has formally been presented with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Standard certification by the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON). Making the presentation at the Headquarters of SON in Abuja, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of SON, Malam Farouq A. Salim, said with the issuance of the certificate, ITPN has joined a few privileged class of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certified organisations in the Nigerian tourism sector, adding that this achievement is commendable. According to him, it also attested to the institute’s ability to formalise its operational system via document processes, procedures, and responsibilities for achieving quality policies and objectives recommended by the standard which further strengthened the its process of efficiency, organisational culture, regulatory compliance, optimise continual improvement efforts and adopt data for evidence-based decision making that ensure customer satisfaction. Salim further noted that implementing the ISO 9001:2015 system certification is a demonstration of ITPN’s management system of conforming to internationally acceptable standard requirements and the ability of the Institute to get it right the first time and always. ‘‘The certificate issued to your organisation today is globally recognise by virtue of accreditation of our certification system by the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies that has mutual recognition agreement with accreditation bodies across continents,’ Salim said. In his remark, the National President of ITPN, Chief Abiodun Odusanwo, said the epoch making event is a clarion call for commitment of the professional body to adhere strictly to global standards in the discharge of its duties as a service provider and certification in professional service and conduct in the Nigerian tourism and other related industries. He expressed his gratitude and delight to the leadership of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria for the painstaking efforts in the processes leading to the award of the certificate, noting that all conditions and quality assurance test procedures were diligently conducted without any iota of favour or cutting corners before ITPN emerged duly certified. Odusanwo then called on the management of SON to always consider inviting and involving ITPN in its usual training activities and update the institute with continuous quality test that the certification demands of it to keep pace with modern ideals in the maintenance quality assurance standards applicable to global best practices.
