JUST IN: LASG Rejects Recommendation Of #EndSARS Panel

The Lagos State Government has rejected one of the recommendations of the panel it set up to probe police brutality.

The panel, which was inaugurated last year, submitted its report to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu two weeks ago.

However, shortly after the report was submitted, a leaked version went into circulation.

In the leaked report, the panel indicted the military and the police.

It also said 11 persons were killed at the Lekki tollgate, recommending that the toll plaza should be named after #EndSARS while the victims should be honoured.

However, the Lagos government rejected the recommendation of the panel on the killings.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information, had rubbished the report which he tagged, “Tales By Moonlight”.

Earlier in the day, Sanwo-Olu confirmed that a White Paper on the report would be released on Tuesday.

He said what the state needed at the moment was healing, inviting celebrities and some key personalities to a walk which he said he would lead in December.

It was learnt that 32 recommendations were made by the panel and the government accepted 11, modified six and rejected one.

It said 14 of the recommendations fall outside its powers and would be will be forwarded to the Federal Government.

President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier said he was waiting for the outcome of the Lagos government.
