Labour Party ‘ll address foundational challenges in Anambra- guber candidate

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the forthcoming election in Anambra State, Obiora Emmanuel Agbasimalo, has rallied the people of the state to vote for his party, as the party has concluded plans to finally address the foundational challenges in the state.

He added that he and his party have developed strategies to use the abundant human and non-human resources in the state to industrialise Anambra and make it the envy of other states.

According to him, “I would effectively harness all the state’s resources to create a well-structured entity with strong institutions; a state where its citizens and residents would enjoy a very high standard of living that would be the envy of the country.”

Agbasimalo, who stated these while chatting with journalists at the weekend during the unveiling of the party secretariat in Awka, the state capital, added that LP is a strong party that has been in existence since the fourth republic, saying: “I chose the Labour Party because I believe it has a viable platform on which I can achieve my objectives for the people of the state.

“I am the man to beat because I represent a breath of fresh air, a deviation from the norm. The ways things have been done in the past cannot lead Anambra State to the Promised Land.

“I represent a manifesto that would address the foundational challenges in the healthcare sector, security, agriculture, education, infrastructure, as well as commerce in the state. My manifesto would also address the necessary catalysts for growth such as women and youth empowerment, effective local government administration, social welfare, among others.

“I, therefore, implore all registered voters in the state to reason with me, and let’s dialogue and chart our way to victory.”

While further outlining his plans for the state, Agbasimalo, who is from Ezinifite in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state, promised to form a strong executive council consisting of individuals with a history of great service to the state, pedigree and integrity, adding that there would be no nepotism in the formation of his team.

The Accounting graduate from the Obafemi Awolowo University sent a passionate appeal to all stakeholders in the state to join hands with him in order to achieve his blueprint for the state.

H said: “I will also bring the government closer to the people by ensuring a viable local government administration in my tenure. All local government executives would have direct access to me. I would ensure that they help me fulfill my election promises to the citizens in their constituency.

“I would maintain a cordial relationship with the centre to ensure that our state gets the needed support from there as at when due.

“I will be able to simply do all these for my people because I am used to them. Through my foundation, I have continuously distributed bags of fertilizers to help farmers in Ayamelum LGA of the state, and provisions to in-patients in hospitals in Onitsha and its environs to aid their recovery.

“I have also constructed and launched many water projects at Awor Ezimizor community schools and others because I believe that infrastructure development is key. New roads and hospitals will be built and existing ones re-modernised and maintained. My plan is that every local government area would have a general hospital and numerous primary healthcare centres.

“A feasibility study would be carried out to determine the most economically viable way of providing electricity and potable water for the entire state.

“Our party has a strong grassroots structure which we plan to exploit to our advantage. Winning elections is not all about throwing money around, but about reaching to the soul of the electorate with our message of hope, development and growth of the state.”
