Ladoja to Makinde: Double-check your facts before deriding your predecessors

Ladoja, who was the leader of the coalition that birthed the current government in the state, gave the advice through his media aide, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo, in response to the govern-ment’s recent statement that no administration after 1995 bought a water drilling rig for the State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) except the present administration.

 

According to Latinwo, during Ladoja’s administration between 2003 and 2007, two rigs were donated by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a Japanese donor Agency to the government which was initiated to curb menace of guinea worm in some parts of the state.

Latinwo said: “The rigs were launched at Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government by the then Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

 

The whole idea was to use same to eradicate guinea worm that was an epidemic in Ibarapa and some parts of Oke Ogun and Ogbomosho zones of the state then. and Godday Erewa,

At the meeting yesterday, lamented that four years after Ikeja Local Government had signed a-30-year concession agreement with the developer in 2016, the company had allegedly failed to rebuild the market and turn it into a mega mall.

 

Speaking in Lagos yesterday, Fashesin-Souza said that the Local government also had tried in compelling the developer to move to site, but he only made complaints which were not tenable towards executing the contracts signed since 2016. The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ekiti State has disclosed that poor work condition being experienced by its members in the state despite COVID- 19 pandemic period was the reason behind the ongoing industrial action being embarked upon by medical doctors in the state.

 

The doctors, however, said that although they were concerned about people’s plight during COVID- 19 and its inherent danger, working under severe condition and the Ekiti State’s insensitive were reasons behind their abandoning their duty.

 

 

This, they said that the strike became inevitable after exhausting 28 days’ ultimatum issued to the government which were ignored by the Governor Kayode Fayemi’s administration as their demands were not met.

 

Doctors in the Health Management Board (HMB), covering three Specialist Hospitals, 19 general hospital and primary healthcare facilities under the auspices of National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMD), had 13 days ago withdrew their services over an alleged wage disparity, unpaid allowances, among other matters.

 

In a statement in Ado- Ekiti yesterday, the Ekiti NMA Chairma, Dr. Tunji Omotayo, who described the strike as appropriate, said the doctors would only return to their duty posts after their rural, hazard and skipping allowances as well as other pending welfare issues were met.

 

He said: “The implication of failure to implement skipping allowance Ekiti doctors lament harsh work condition, unpaid salary “RUWASSA, formerly known as Water and Sanitation Agency (WATSAN) was an agency under the Governor’s office with a Project Director under the supervision of the then Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who was later Chief of Staff to Senator Ladoja. It worked assiduously to make the government and people of the State proud with timeous eradication of the epidemic.”
