Lagos First Lady, Ekiti, Ondo states’ govs awarded ‘Advocates of the Year’

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu and the governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, have all been awarded Advocates of the Year by the Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW).

The three recipients were among 12 other awardees honoured by NASoW.

Sanwo-Olu, Akeredolu and Fayemi were awarded in recognition of their contributions to social works across the country.

The award was presented to them at the NASoW 37th Annual General Meeting, Conference Dinner and Award Night in Lagos.

NASoW’s National President, Alhaji Mashood Mustapha, said the recipients explained that social work was a profession designed to touch lives and improve humanity by creating a society where meeting needs becomes the responsibility of everyone.

Mustapha said: “The theme of the conference was designed to reawaken a sense of connectivity and feelings of being there for one another, to build a fair and just society. A society where love, understanding and peace exist.”

NASoW’s Lagos Chapter Chairperson, Ms Olubunmi Lamilisa, said that the award was organised to appreciate and celebrate individuals who had impacted the society by helping the vulnerable in one way or the other.

Lamilasa added: “The recipients of the awards were carefully selected by the association following their track records of immense contribution to improving humanity and making the society a better place.”
