Floyd Mayweather called for a rematch with Conor McGregor following his rival’s winning return to the UFC.
McGregor destroyed Donald Cerrone inside 40 seconds on his UFC comeback on Saturday night and looked back to his best in Las Vegas.
Mayweather convincingly beat McGregor in their boxing match in 2017, but appears ready to go toe-to-toe with the Irishman again reports metro.co.uk.
The undefeated boxer released a fight poster on his Instagram with ‘Mayweather McGregor 2 2020’ splashed on the image.
McGregor insisted he still wanted to continue his boxing career in the build-up to his return to MMA, mentioning Manny Pacquiao as a potential opponent, as well saying he was interested in a second fight with Mayweather.
Dana White said the next fight to make for McGregor was a rematch with lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, but reacted to Mayweather’s social media activity in the post-fight press conference.
He said: “Mayweather and I have been talking tonight. We’re going to do something with Mayweather. I don’t know yet.”
McGregor gave nothing away in his in-cage interview immediately after the fight, saying: “Etch my name in history. I like this weight division.
“I am unscathed and in shape but I still don’t think I am back where I was.
“I am going to party and spend time with my family but then I will be back in the gym and anyone can get it next.
“UFC can strip fighters and give fighters make believe belts but they can’t take away knockout finishes.”
