Nasarawa commences enforcement of vehicles’ registration

Cheke Emmanuel LAFIA The Nasarawa State government yesterday commenced the enforcement of vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles’ registration in the state.

 

The move, the state government said, was to fight against defaulters who continued to operate without registration in the state. It was also to ensure that vehicle owners, motorcycle and tricycle owners register them properly.

 

Exexutive Chairman, NasarawaState InternalRevenue Service, Ahmed Yakubu, disclosed this while fieding questions from newsmen during the enforcement exercise in Lafia, the state capital. He said the exercise was aimed at securing such vehicles, motorcycles and tricycles by getting them properly registered for easy tracking when stolen apart from generating revenue for the state.

 

According to him: “The reason why we carrying out this exercise is that we noticed that quite a number of vehicles, motorcycles and tricycles were operating in the state with no registration papers or plate numbers and this is not proper. So it beholves us to do the needful by ensuring that the owners get them properly registered.

 

“This exercise will also assist the securityagents in tracking any vehicle, motorcycle or tricycle easily in the event that they are stolen.

 

Once you imput the chassis number or registration into our portal the information about the vehicle or motorcycle or Keke will be there andinthe event thatthey were stolen, they can be recovered easily.”

 

The chairman, who expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance during the enforcement exercise, said a good number of defaulters had been apprehended just as he added that the exercise would be carried out across the state.
