NB hands over science/tech complex to Pan-Atlantic Varsity Assistant

The management of Pan- Atlantic University (PAU), Lagos, has taken delivery of an ultra-modern School of Science and Technology complex, named after the former Elder Felix Ohiwerei, former Chairman/ Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Breweries Plc.

 

The building complex, furnished with the state-of-the-art science and technological equipment and facilities, was constructed and donated to the private university by the Nigerian Breweries Plc, under the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, instituted by the company on November 18, 1994, as a charitable trust for the advancement of education at all levels in the country.

 

While inaugurating the building complex at Ibeju-Lekki main campus of the university, the Chairman of NB Plc, Chief Kolawole Jamodu described Elder Ohiwerei as an accomplished and successful businessman, whose passion for education development has no boundary.

 

The commissioning of the building complex, which coin  cided with the 27th anniversary of the Education Trust Fund, according to Jamodu, is one of the Fund’s commitments to education development and to raise leaders of tomorrow.

 

NB Plc Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hans Essaadi, who noted that Pan-Atlantic University is Nigeria’s long standing education institution, restated the determination of the company to partner the university to mould leaders of the country.

 

He, however, lauder Elder Ohiwerei for his sterling contributions to Nigerian Breweries, which he noted has continued till date to sustain the company, even as he challenged the School of Science and Technology, the beneficiary of the complex to produce next generation of leaders such as Elder Ohiwerei. “I challenge the Faculty to produce quality graduates that will be comparable to their counterparts across the world,” he said.

 

On his part, Elder Ohiwerei, who reminisced over his years at Nigerian Breweries as graduate  Assistant and his rise to the top echelon of the company, gave God the glory and thanked the NB Plc Board for the honour in naming the Fund after him as well as the school building.

 

“Those who are going to study in the School will excel in character and learning, and become blessings to their generation and human kind,” he said.

 

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Juan Elegido, thanked the donor, saying the facilities and equipment would impact significantly on the training and education of the students in mechanical, engineering and technology, among other spheres of science and technology, as well as improve training in entrepreneurship programmes.

 

The Dean of the School, Dr. Darlington Agholor, while praising Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund and the management of the company for the project, however, said that the building and equipment would go a long way in enhancing the development of the university
