Nigerian varsity bursars to understudy Ghana system

The Association of Bursars of Nigerian Universities (ABNU) has said it has sent some of its members to understudy Ghanaian universities’ revenue generation system to shore up their performances in their various institutions.

The National Chairman of the association, Dr. Victor Imagbe, made the disclosure yesterday at the body’s annual conference and award. Imagbe, who is also the bursar of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), said apart from seeking how to improve revenue generation, the association had started the orientation of members to access money from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

He said bursars being managers of the university system also have to deploy their skills in ensuring industrial harmony and peaceful environment by meeting regularly with all unions.

According to him, the award the association gave to the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Alhaji Ahmed Idris and the Executive Secretary, TETFUND, Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, was aimed at honouring them and also to serve as motivation for others.

He said: “We have sent a delegation to Ghana to study revenue generation in their university system. We need to collaborate to ensure that we have world class universities.

We have also been collaborating with universities outside the country.”
