NNLG promises to boost natural gas usage

The Nigeria National Liquefied and Gas Limited ( NNLG) Limited, would not relent in its efforts to deepen the use of natural gas for production activities in the country, its Managing Director, Mr Philip Mshebilla, has said.

This came as the Federal Government declared years 2022 to 2030 as Decade of Gas as part of efforts to make immense use of the resources to improve the country’s economy.

He said the country was blessed with natural gas, stating that 204 trillion cubit feet of proven gas and 600 trillion cubit of unproven natural gas are enough to help grow the economy. He spoke at a stakeholders’ forum in Lagos.

According to him, sectors such as power, oil and allied areas depend largely on natural gas for production, adding that the gas is vital for both human and national sustenance.

The Federal Government, he said, has embarked on projects, which require immediate use of natural gas to produce other economic activities, stressing that gas would be deploy to meet those needs.

Citing Ajaokuta Kaduna Kano (AKK) gas to power pipeline project, he said the project needed gas to function perfectly for the growth of the nation’s electricity sector.

He said the AKK project, on completion, would help in transferring gas to across the country for the use of turbines and other power projects.

He said the quantum of gas needed by the project and others in the country, is huge, adding that the company is working to grow the economy of Nigeria.
He said the company, is committed to the production and exportation of gas abroad, with a view to help build the country’s economy.

This, he said, was evident by various trains, which NLNG has constructed in the past few years, stressing the trains have largely contributed to the country’s growth.

On LPG, he said plans are being made NLNG to boost the use of the product locally and bring down the prices of the product, which has skyrocketed in recent times.
