NPA hands over relief materials to IDPs

Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has handed over some relief materials and items procured for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to Borno State Government.

The materials, according to a statement, include bags of rice, beans, corn, millets, and tins of palm oil, mattresses and solar lamps. Managing Director of the Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman, who handed the material to Governor Kashim Shettima, explained that NPA had resolved to sustain the commitment it had established in her corporate social responsibility across the country. Usman said that NPA had made similar provisions to IDPs in Adamawa and Yobe states. She added that NPA was desirous of prioritising its corporate social responsibility efforts as well as sustaining it.

The managing director said: “NPA believes that there is need to strengthen our CSR, which, among others, includes projects addressing the needs of host communities in order to enlist support towards a harmonious mutual dividend.”

She commended Shettima for his commitment and courage in bringing dividends of good governance in a holistic manner to the people even under very difficult situations. The governor, who appreciated the kind gestures from NPA, promised that the relief items would be judiciously utilised across board in the affected areas.
