NPA seeks speedy repair of port roads to ease traffic

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has appealed to the contractors handling the repairs of the two major arteries into the Lagos ports to hasten their works to ease the movement of trucks in and out of the port. The Managing Director, Mohammed Bello- Koko, said the ports had started witnessing a longer waiting time for vessels and a longer dwell time of cargo at the port, saying that the cost of transport has also gone up because of the shutdown. Repairs are being carried out on the Apapa- Oshodi Expressway and Leventis Bridge on Apapa- Wharf road, Bello-Koko also appealed to the Lagos State Government to work with the authority to clear up the traders that are occupying nearly half of the newly constructed roads in order to free up the port access roads.
