Okojie to varsities: Involve emotional intelligence experts in recruitment processes

Former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Julius Okojie, has tasked Nigerian universities to involve panelists with adequate knowledge of emotional intelligence when recruiting registry staff. Such deliberate recruitment approach, according to the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in Ogun State, would go a long way in enhancing a good working relationship between the different segments of the university community as well as create a healthy condition for achieving improved productivity. Okojie, who made the call on Wednesday during the Third Registry Distinguished Lecture of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Akwa Ibom State, however, noted that emotional intelligence was not very obvious among registry staff in universities in Nigeria, which he considered as a composite work environment
