Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi yesterday said for any meaningful development to take place at the grassroots in any society, community advancement should be in existence. Ogunwusi, disclosed this during the 5th anniversary of the coronation of the Olupoti of Ipoti-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Oba James Oladipupo Kolade (Oluwademilade 1). Ogunwusi charged the people of Ipoti-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area to take the development of their community as necessary. He said: “Community development remains the duty of all of us in Yorubaland and Nigeria at large.” Also speaking, the Etsu Nupe of Bida in Niger State, HRH Yahaya Abubakar, urged Kolade to improve the standard of the living of his people.
The monarch described the people of Ipoti as very lucky community having Oba Oladipupo as their king. He said the effort on rice plantation in Ipoti-Ekiti with the intervention of some foreign countries and as a result of the monarch recent visit to Thailand will soon bring good fruits to the community. Responding, Kolade commended the duo of Ogunwusi and Abubakar for the giant strides they have been making so far to bring back the lost glory of the Yoruba cultural heritage. The monarch stressed that the presence of the traditional rulers at his 5th anniversary on the throne of his forefathers confirmed their convictions of the necessity for regional cultural integration towards fostering unity among traditional institutions in Nigeria.
