Ooni’s wife calls for peace, unity

Wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Wuraola Zainab Ogunwusi, has expressed her absolute belief in the peace and unity of Yoruba land and the entire nation of Nigeria.

She made the call recently during her visit to the Internal Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in the Sabo area of Ile-Ife in Osun State.

The Ooni’s wife also condoled with members of the Hausa community who lost their loved ones and properties during the recent clash between the Yoruba and Hausa in Ile-Ife. Speaking during the visit, Ogunwusi, who lauded the camp authorities for their dedication and attention to the plight of the victims, said: “I want to use this opportunity to commiserate with our brothers and sisters who lost their loved ones and properties during the last incident. I want us all to live in peace and unity.

I want us to be our brothers’ keepers; let’s live in unity to forestall any future occurrence of this kind of ugly incident.”

She further assured that she and her people with the active support of her husband would continue to support and care for nonindigenes in Ile-Ife, regardless of the cultural and language differences.

Escorting her to the camp, where food items, cash and other relief materials were generously donated, were members of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced People.
