Organisers set July 25 date to celebrate Thunder Balogun

Friends and sports stakeholders have come together to celebrate the 50th years anniversary of the demise of great Nigerian and international soccer ambassador, Teslim ‘Thunder’ Balogun. This was revealed during a press conference on Wednesday where it was revealed that the anniversary will be a week-long event with several activities lined up to pcelebrate an icon who was the first Nigerian and African to play professional football in England after plying his trade with Peterborough United and Queens Park Rangers while also qualifying as the first African professional coach in England. Speaking during the press conference, the President General Nigeria Football and Other Sports Supporters Club, Rafiu Ladipo, said some of the activities lined up for the celebration expected to take place between Monday, July 25 and Saturday July 30, are exhibition and documentary on the life, football and coaching adventures of Balogun while there will also be public lectures by former Super Eagles coach, Adegboye Onigbinde and himself.
