Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) will be leading an array of eminent stakeholders in the justice sector at the second edition of the Wole Olanipekun & Co (WOC) Justice Summit slated for Friday, November 19.

The annual WOC Justice forum is a platform that critically engages leaders of distinguished pedigree in discussions that enhances justice delivery in Nigeria. The 2021 edition of WOC will be focusing on the implementation of justice sector reforms in Nigeria.

Addressing journalists on the event, Managing Partner at WOC, Bode Olanipekun (SAN), indicated that the summit would bring together all stakeholders to share insights needed for the growth of the justice sector. He said this year’s event will nudge discussions higher from theoretical to practical, with reputable thought leaders proffering practical ways to build sustainable, trusted and adaptable justice delivery mechanism.

He added that the summit coincides with the 70th birthday of the founder of the firm, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) who was called to the Nigerian Bar 45 years ago and has practiced law for over 3 decades as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Olanipekun said: “As an establishment  that had enjoyed the privilege of engaging and interacting with the justice delivery sector over time, since 1980, we have a fair idea of the many advantages, benefits, innovations and untapped, or, yet to be fully utilized potentials in the system.

“We also have a good appreciation of some of the areas that require review, change and improvement. Therefore, we are very deliberate in our choices of speakers and discussants at the justice summit.

This year, we have the privilege of featuring a larger array of keynote speakers which include: Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, SAN; His Royal Majesty, Hon. Justice Fedode Talabi JSC (Rtd.); Hon. Justice Adamu Galumje, JSC (Rtd.); Hon. Justice Kashim Zannah – serving Chief Judge of Borno State; A.B. Mahmoud, SAN -former President, Nigerian Bar Association and 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

“Others include: Mrs Funke Adekoya, SAN – former Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association; Femi Falana, SAN – Leading human rights activist and former President, West African Bar Association; Mrs. Ibukun Awosika -role model, entrepreneur and founder of the Chair Center and Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN, the immediate past Chief Executive/Vice Chancellor of the University of the Lagos State University.

“In this year’s event, two retired Justices of the Supreme Court and a serving Judge would speak on the topic of ‘integrity’.

This is critical because the value of a judicial system is largely dependent on the trust that judicial outcomes command. The trust that judicial outcomes command also has a direct bearing on virtually all aspects of national life”.
