Osun families beg Oyetola to reverse chieftaincy installation

The Aareago families of Ara in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State have called on Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, to reverse the recent installation of John Babatunde Ibirogba as the Aareago of Ara by the Alara of Ara, Oba Olubayo Adesola Windapo. The families alleged that due consultation was not made before a section, out of the four that are entitled to the chieftaincy, presented Ibirogba to Oba Windapo as the Aareago designate, who subsequently was installed as the Aareago of Ara. It would be recalled that Pa Idowu was the first Aareago of Ara and had six children.

The three sections of the family, through their lawyer, Abdulrahman Okunade, had petitioned Oba Windapo in a letter directed to the state’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Adeleke Yekeen Adebayo. The letter was written on behalf of the heads of three families namely; Alhaji Ibrahim Dahunsi Ogunlabi, Chief Oladele Faniran and Moyinlorun Ajayi, as representatives of the Ogunlabi, Oladapo and Adegoke families respectively of Aareago’s Compound, Ara in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State.

The petitioners recalled that the grandfather of the Aareago family who was earlier referred to as Otun of Ara, had six children and that one died childless while the sixth child was a female.
