Plateau return to top in weekend of draws

lateau United on Sunday returned to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table after whitewashing Adamawa United 5-0 in Jos on Sunday.

In a weekend where there are three goalless draw, Plateau showed commitment from the start of the game and took a three goals lead in the first half.

Brace from Ibrahim Mustapha and further goals from Oche Ochowechi, Uche Onwuasoanya and Abba Umar secured the victory.

 

It was back-to-back defeat for champions Enyimba and Akwa United after losing 2-0 to IfeanyiUbah and Kano Pillars respectively. The two had lost with the same scoreline against Heartland and Kwara United during the week.

Three draws were recorded on Sunday with former leader, Lobi Stars playing goalless at home against Dakkada while Heartland and Katsina United also ending same way. It also ended goalless between Kwara United and Sunshine.

Rangers continued their resurgence with another win as they beat Abia Warriors 3-1 while MFM recorded a 2-1 loss away to Wikki Tourists.

 

Plateau returned to the top with 28 points from 16 matches, same as Lobi Stars in second position while Rivers United might move to the top of the table with a win against Jigawa Golden Stars scheduled for Monday.
