Police rescue 11 kidnap victims, others

A combined team of police patrol team, vigilance and hunters have rescued 11 kidnapped victims from a five-man gang in army camouflage at Idu roundabout along Ozoro/ Ughelli expressway in Delta State.

 

They swooped on the victims with AK-47 rifles as they came out of the bush at Idu roundabout. They opened fire on a Toyota Sienna with registration number SMK 185 FU, conveying them from Ozoro to Ughelli.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe in Asaba yesterday said men of the Oleh Divisional Police Headquarters mobilised, condoned off and combed the surrounding bushes relentlessly. He said, ‘’Consequently, the suspected kidnappers abandoned the 11 victims and fled. The 11 victims were rescued unhurt and the vehicle recovered.

Effort is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing hoodlums.’’

 

Meanwhile, on November 14, two men who were abducted and placed under their car boot also escaped, after which a complaint was made and one of them said he went to wash his vehicle at a car wash around Conoil Filling Station, Effurun.
