Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi yesterday felicitated with Muslim faithful in the state and charged them to live in harmony with other religious sects.
The monarch, who made the charge during the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Eid Praying Ground at Ilode, Ile-Ife said that progress of a society would only occur in an atmosphere of harmony, peace and togetherness, urging them to move towards them.
Besides, Oba Ogunwusi asked politicians to shun any act capable of promoting disharmony, acrimony, bitterness and retrogression, urging them to play politics with an open minded heart. He also preached mutual understanding among party supporters and pleaded with them to refrain from promoting violence during elections as there was no gain in violence as nobody’s blood worth shedding on account of electioneering exercise.
Oba Ogunwusi, however, sued for peace and admonished Nigerians to jointly work for the development and progress of the country.
Earlier, the Chief Imam of Ife Muslim Community, Alhaji Abdulsemiu AbdulHammed called on the Muslim faithful to emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammed for peace and progress to reign supreme in the country. “Muslims should imbibe the teachings of the Prophet by preaching peace wherever they find themselves,” he said.
