Senate to Rohr: You can’t handle super Eagles

Uchenna Inya, Abakaliki

Senate Committee on Sports, on Friday told Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr to leave the national team.

The committee said Rohr lacked the capacity to coach the Super Eagles to win matches and tournaments.

Chairman of the Committee and Senator representing Ebonyi Central Zone, Chief Obinna Ogba stated this while speaking with journalists in Abakaliki during the South East Sports Stakeholders’ Seminar, which held in the Ebonyi State capital.

Ogba regretted that the Super Eagles coach has failed to harness abundance of talents in the nation’s football.

He therefore urged the coach to leave the senior national team saying that it is not a must that he continues handling the Super Eagles.

“It is not the issue of everybody wanting him back. But Nigerians are not the managers of Nigerian football; you need to find out whether the managers of Nigerian football, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) whether they want him back.

“As a good coach, they have given you conditions. The only thing left for you is to accept and reject the ones you don’t like. The ones you like you reject them and the ones you like you accept them. It is not a must that he coaches the Nigerian team.

“I am one of those who believe that the man has finished his time, he needs to go because he doesn’t have something to offer. Nigeria has talented players but he fails to use them to prosecute marches and tournaments.

“Look at what happened in the last World Cup; 10 minutes to go and a coach didn’t know what to do to win that match. For that match alone, I think he should leave!”

Nigerians are not the managers of Nigeria football, so their voices, feelings, and opinions do not count and shouldn’t be heard, but that of the alleged corrupt NFF. Exactly how few people pick our so called leaders in a fruitless exercise called election and impose them on over 200 million Nigerians. Apart from the world cup menace, what hasn’t Rohr achieved, A man that picked a dieing team, qualified them for AFCON and world cup with games to spare, came third in the AFCON, played quality friendlies and still accounting. with him our foreign players are craving to play for the team.
Mr Senator, what have you and your colleagues achieved outside going home with robust salaries and allowances with nothing to show for it? You people appear to be omni-science in all matters but the country is still in shamble.
