SPECOL FPSO fire incident contained at Upokiti Terminal

SEPCOL, an indigenous oil exploration company, recorded a fire incident at its Upokiti Terminal.

Known as Shebah Exploration and Production Company Limited, the firm had its Floating Production and Storage Offloadi( DPSO ) vessel burnt prior to this weekend.

The firm, in a statement sent by its Chief Executive officer, Mr Ikemefuna Okafor, however, said that there were no casualties.

“Currently, there are still no reported fatalities and we continue prioritising investigations with respect to establishing the whereabouts, safety, and security of the ten crew members who were on board the vessel prior to the incident,” he noted.

The indigenous company appreciates the assistance provided by the Clean Nigeria Associates, the Chevron team, NOSDRA, NUPRC, SPDC and people in the community, particularly the fishermen, who have been of immense assistance since the incident occurred.

Therefore, SEPCOL cautious members of the public to continue to keep away from the area while the company Crisis Management Team monitors developments in the investigations and update all stakeholders with new information accordingly
