Sheriff JW Pepper: James Bond star, Clifton James, dies aged 96

The actor Clifton James, best known for his portrayal of Sheriff JW Pepper in two James Bond films, has died at the age of 96. James first played the hapless tobacco-spitting Louisiana law-enforcer alongside Sir Roger Moore in the 007 film Live and Let Die in 1973. He was involved in a car chase scene with Bond and was so popular with the audience that producers asked him to return in 1974’s The Man With the Golden Gun.
