Shipping lines slam unapproved charges on containers

Importers using Lagos ports are to cough out additional and unapproved charges introduced by shipping lines. The unapproved charges called Port Additional Destination (PAD) were introduced last week. It was gathered that the charges were imposed without the approval of the port economic regulator, Nigerian Shippers Council (NCS). Already, one of the liners, CMA CGM Shipping Nigeria Limited, has started charging N38, 000 per 20 feet container and N76,000 on a 40 feet container from importers.
