Customs seize 32 containers of expired rice

Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday impounded 32 containers of expired rice imported through the Tincan port, Apapa in Lagos. An official said that the rice, which had expired since 2018, were imported from China and Thailand and were about to be smuggled into the Nigerian market. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A, has intercepted seized 1,239 cartons of fake viagra sexual enhancement drugs worth N409million. The unit also seized 1, 200 pieces of compressed Indian hemp worth N12million and smuggled foreign parboiled rice worth N36.4million along the border from smugglers. Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized some cartons of tramadol and other fake pharmaceutical products valued at N1.15 billion at the port.   Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operation Unit, Zone A, Lagos, has intercepted 347 cartons of codeine syrup valued at N174 million in Lagos. Also, the service said yesterday that it seized 140 bundles of textile materials worth N11.2 million. The Apapa Customs Command in Lagos has generated N170.4 billion between January and May. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operation Unit (FOU), Lagos has seized two containers of donkey hides being processed for export. Also, the service seized 29 vehicles valued at N712.17 million from smugglers.
