Governors to Nigerians: Prepare for fresh recession

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has told Nigerians to prepare for another cycle of economic recession by mid-2020. The forum also advised new and returning governors not to rely on external borrowing as a means of solving the economic challenges that they might face in their states. The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) on Wednesday night met in Abuja to discuss issues of minimum wage, insecurity and other matters of interests for the development of the country. Governors demand balance of Paris Club refund

The governors of the 36 states of the federation have asked the federal government to release the 50 percent balance of Paris Club refund by November. The federal government has disbursed N760.17 billion, paid in two tranches, to the 36 states as refund under the Paris Club loan. Paris Club refund is a partial settlement of long-standing claims by state governments relating to over-deductions from their federation account allocation committee (FAAC) allocation for external debt service arising between 1995 and 2002.
