Police recover 168 guns, 2,323 ammunition in Imo- CP

The Commissioner of Police in Imo, Mr Chris Ezike, says the command has recovered 168 guns and 2,323 ammunition during its mop-up of armaments in the state. Ezike, who made the disclosure in Owerri on Tuesday while displaying the weapons, said they were recovered from criminals and some individuals who surrendered their own voluntarily. He said the command also recovered 99 cartridges and 25 empty magazines. The commissioner said the command would deposit the arms and ammunition in the public armory. More than 200 blind persons under the aegis of the Nigeria Association of the Blind (NAB), Imo State chapter Monday blocked the entry gates of the Imo State Government House, Owerri, in protest. A political pressure group, the Imo Equity Group has raised the alarm over what it described as surreptitious moves to impeach the Imo state deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere.
