Windstorm kills 6, destroys 500 houses in Katsina

The Katsina State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said on Friday that six persons were killed in Kastina metropolis and environs by a windstorm which occurred in the area. Dr Aminu Waziri, the Executive Secretary of the agency who disclosed this during a media briefing in Katsina, said 500 houses were also damaged by the disaster which occurred Thursday evening. A Katsina State High Court on Tuesday fixed April 10, 11 and 12, 2018, to hear the motion filed by the EFCC against ex-governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema and three others on alleged financial impropriety. 210 rape cases recorded in Katsina in 2017

The Katsina State Police Command says it recorded 210 cases of rape and unnatural acts in the state in 2017. The command’s spokesman, DSP Isa Gambo, said on Tuesday in Katsina that 275 persons allegedly involved in the various rape cases were arrested during the period. He said 207 of the cases were in court, with three still under investigation.
