Pipeline explosion claims 10 lives in Rivers

Ten persons have lost their lives following an early morning pipeline explosion at Kom Kom area of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, while a number of others reportedly sustained injuries. The pipeline, which supplies petroleum products to Aba and Enugu, and owned by the Petroleum Product Marketing Company (PPMC) exploded and burst into flame in the early hours of yesterday, forcing some residents to flee their homes.   The cause of the explosion had not been ascertained as of the time of filing this report, but an eyewitness…

Rivers Gov’ship: Supreme Court upholds judgement nullifying Rivers APC primaries

The Supreme Court has upheld the judgement of the High court in Port Harcourt nullifying the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State. A five-man panel of justices, presided by Jutsice Mohammed Dattijo on Friday dismissed the objection of the Tonye Cole faction of the APC that it had earlier withdrawn from the appeal against the judgement. Two girls, six and four years old, from the same parents have drowned after a 24-passenger boat capsized on Sunday in Rivers State.
