Three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) were killed while 17 others were injured when a male suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) strapped on his body at Muna Datti on the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State. One Victor Lazarus, a middle aged man, has committed suicide, after inflicting severe machete cuts on his wife, simply identified as Promise, in Asaba, Delta State capital. Surge in use of children as suicide bombers – UN

A new report from the UN’s children’s agency, Unicef, is warning of a surge in the use of children as suicide bombers by the Islamist militant group Boko Haram. In the first three months of this year, 27 suicide attacks were carried out in Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon, all countries affected by the conflict. Two adults are dead after a school shooting at a San Bernardino, California, elementary school, according to police.
